Ribbon Cutting

MAY 2009. Croft & Associates held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 6 to celebrate the move to a new 13,000 square foot, two-story building designed by the entire Croft staff. About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood, Director of Public Worlks Mark Hipp, Police Chief Michael Wilkie, Building Official Loyd Fasselt, City Aldermen Bob Weatherford and Tim Houston, City Manager Brian Bulthuis, and Scott and Chuck Rosemond, general contractors for the project.

The firm outgrew its old office space quickly—the new building accommodates its needs and leaves room for future growth. Situated close to Downtown Acworth and Kennesaw, the architecture is designed in context to both historic cities while expressing a fresh, compatible contemporary theme. The building was designed with LEED certification as the goal. It is currently LEED registered. Among its green features are a white TPO roof, low VOC products and materials, and a rainwater harvesting system for the mostly native and drought-tolerant landscape.

Big News!

JUNE 2008. We recently broke ground on our new offices in Acworth! The 12,000 square foot, two-story building will be located less than a mile from our present location, but it's a big move in many ways. The design team, which included our entire staff, created a green design with LEED certification as the goal. The objective is to develop the site in a responsible manner, minimizing the environmental impact and providing a healthy and happy environment for our employees. The building has been sited sensitively with a small footprint, leaving significant open space. The open office work environment is shallow, allowing generous penetration of daylight. Low-e insulated glazing and sun screens over the south windows will minimize solar heat gain. We will harvest rain water and use it for landscape irrigation. Most of the planting will be native and drought tolerant. White roofing will minimize heat island effect of the new development. In addition we will try to recycle at least 50% of construction waste, use as much as possible of locally produced materials, increase building ventilation, optimize HVAC systems to be more economical and use low VOC create healthy indoor air quality.

The new building addresses the needs of the community. Situated close to Downtown Acworth, the architecture is designed in context of historic Acworth while expressing a fresh, compatible contemporary theme. It reflects our team's design capabilities and our desire to be good neighbors in the Kennesaw/Acworth community.
