Size: 38,000 SF
CROFT conducted planning, full architecture and engineering design, and construction phase services to deliver this 38,000 SF state-of-the-art community fitness, recreation, and arts center on-time and within budget. The community fitness center includes locker rooms, two competition sized basketball courts, 0.1-mile elevated indoor walking track, community meeting rooms, visual arts classroom, full service kitchen, 4,000 SF multipurpose banquet hall, and staff offices. The structural steel facility was designed with the use of integral-colored ground and split face block to provide their distinctive natural beauty and durability in the basketball courts and fitness areas while using light-gauge metal infill with impact resistant dry-wall, natural wood, interior brick, and tile finishes to provide a warm and historically inspired touch to the banquet hall and staff offices.
With CROFT’s team of professionals’ hand-selected for their thought-leadership and depth of experience in fitness center design, CROFT designed this highly efficient fitness center on a challenging site with more than 30-feet of elevation drop. To meet ABAAS standards, maximize the use of limited parking space, and minimize costly retaining walls, CROFT designed the West-facing elevation adjacent to the city’s entry promenade to provide shaded views of the passive park and trail system while affording views of Acworth’s historic downtown.
