CROFT, in collaboration with Mead & Hunt, provided full AE design services for the renovation of the Georgia ARNG Cedartown Readiness Center, serving Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 108th Cavalry Regiment. The renovation involved consolidating the existing latrines to create a larger, code-compliant men’s latrine with additional fixtures, and reconfiguring the women’s latrine and lactation room.A full HAZMAT assessment was conducted to support major upgrades across architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, fire alarm, HVAC, lighting, and interior systems. Interior improvements to the main building included expanding office spaces (Rooms 111, 112, and 114), replacing existing lighting with high-efficiency LED fixtures, and installing sensors for a demand control ventilation system. The Drill Hall was updated with a new ABA-compliant bottle filling station, fresh paint, LVT flooring, LED lighting, new ceiling tiles, exit signage, and window shading. HVAC enhancements included replacing the north-side condensing unit, cleaning supply, and return grills, and upgrading the forced air unit heaters with ventilated infrared heaters. In the Supply Annex, the team installed a new lighting system with occupancy sensors, introduced demand control ventilation to Room 119, and added a new weapons vault. The adjacent bay building received climate-controlled storage, dehumidification, new ridge cap roofing and insulation, and exterior metal siding repairs, all without changing the building’s occupancy.  Site improvements included a new electrical connection for an EST trailer at the motor pool, a 3,000 SF expansion of the POV parking area, sanitary infrastructure upgrades, and a swing gate added to the dumpster enclosure. The sanitary infrastructure included building drainage calculations to evaluate the capacity of the existing septic system and drain field, and compare required septic upgrades with connecting the building to the municipal sewer system. This required coordination the local water and sewer department and city management team, with the findings and recommendations presented to the National Guard in a short form Charette meeting. The maintenance bay scope involved selective demolition, new industrial load shelving, and the replacement of the roof gutter system and exterior siding. Mead & Hunt provided structural engineering and communications systems design in support of CROFT’s architectural and engineering work.
