CROFT led the full historic rehabilitation AE design for the adaptive reuse of the Calumet & Hecla Warehouse (1894) for use by NPS as a curatorial storage facility with 12,000 SF of museum grade, climate-controlled collections storage for four National Parks while maintaining the facility’s architectural character. The project included three tiers of climate-controlled storage, compact mobile storage; loading dock; collections receiving area; common museum work and research room; and a visitor use area. The project’s building rehabilitations included masonry repairs, roof replacement, door replacement, elevator replacement, interior finish restoration, historic millwork restoration, new partitions and finishes, insulation, universal accessibility improvements, site improvements, and replacement of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire detection, communications, fire suppression, and electronic security upgrades. Services included condition assessment and report, review of HSR documentation, structural design calculations and analysis, program verification, curatorial storage study, cost estimating, drawing production, specifications, and design narrative/reports.
